Default Re: Google Analytics on Contact Us Success Page

Thanks Melanie, but where/what is the contact us success page? Which common file..? I have created a unique tracking conversion code in Google for just contacting us, but just do not know where the code needs to go. I don't want it accross the whole site, just want to uniquely track people who email us...

That depends on where Google asks you to put the code, in the <head>, <body>?

Likely in the head or just before the closing body tag in which case you must use the method I suggested or an override for a common file for just the success page, as the contact us page is a dynamic page.

Conversion code needs to go between the <body> tags.

What I don't understand is your comment:
"method I suggested or an override for a common file for just the success page, as the contact us page is a dynamic page".

The success page is a dynamic page, that's why I'm a little lost... are there any tutorials or help on this?

If it needs to go between the body tags as you say then you can add it in your admin under Tools >> Define Pages >> Contact , but you must add it in code view.

OK, thanks. Pasted the conversion code in the top of the contact us page, but surely that means anyone who just browses that page without submitting an email will count as a conversion?

.... I thought you were creating funnel, you have created a one page conv code?

Then you must locate the checkout success template page and insert it in there.

Still applying the analytics code correctly to your website will allow you to create a funnel to track this much easier.

I want to track how people get to our site and send an email enquiry - nothing to do with making a sale. To us that is a 'Lead Conversion'. A Google rep said we need to create a conversion with a tracking purpose of 'Lead' and place the code on the contact us confirmation (success) page.

There must be someone who has done this..?
