The simplest way I can think of is to upgrade to the latest version of Zen Cart which has fixed hundreds of bugs since the version you're using.

tks for your advice. i manage to get rid of the error message by lowering the maxclients limits on my apache configuration.
But now I have another problem:
1. i make a purchase by adding to cart (usd $2.9)
2. checkout with paypal
3. fill up the information and hit submit
4. it brings me back to the checkout page on my site
5. i hit next and it goes to the payment information page. however, it shows total amount as zero
6. i hit next again and it goes to the order confirmation page. it only shows payment method as PayPal. delivery option, shopping cart content and the total amount are all blank or zero for the total amount.
7. then i hit next again and it shows order completed
8. sales completed and i can see it from my admin panel for the right amount and content too
do you have any idea? tks
andy
That doesn't seem to make any sense.
Once again, upgrading to a supported version of Zen Cart would be a wise first step, as whatever the root problem is has probably been fixed a long time ago in one of the many updates published since the version you're using.

ok. i am just curious how the shopping cart pass the content and the chosen shipping option from one page to another i.e. from payment information page to order information page?
tks

The problems you describe are far more complicated than merely watching what data is passed between pages.
If the problem you're having has just "suddenly" started happening, then THAT is the thing you should be focusing your time on.
Maybe you recently installed an addon or made customizations which have broken something? Do you have backups to restore from?
Maybe your hosting company has been changing things in their servers and/or firewalls?
Also, since you're using an old version of Zen Cart which has many known SECURITY vulnerabilities, if you haven't specifically patched those problems then it's very possible that the problems you're looking at are really symptoms of having been hacked ... in which case you need to do a thorough site inspection and requisite cleanup, patching, and upgrading. Instructions on recovering from hacks can be found at http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.p...ing_From_Hacks
I can tell you that the Express Checkout module in v1.3.7 worked when it was released, based on code and specs available from PayPal at that time. And, if you're experiencing fresh problems using old code, it's very possible that maybe it's broken because of something changed even on PayPal's end. Yet another reason to upgrade to the latest version.
Further, if you're bound and bent that it's better to spend weeks of your time on trying to figure out how to rewrite the 1.3.7 code to deal with an obscure issue that you're the only person who is encountering, instead of maybe a day to upgrade to the latest version and be on your way, then have at it. I submit that it's better just to upgrade.

hi DrByte,
Thank you and I perfectly understand your point. I have another idea and I would like to seek your opinion. Can I do a fresh installation of the zencart (latest version) under another folder on my server and copy my database over? When I m done with the testing, I will then point my A record to this new folder as my website? Do you think this will be easier?
regards,
Andy
That's only *part* of the proper upgrade process, and if you do only exactly what you said, then you'll be missing all the customizations you've done in PHP files, templates, etc.
The proper way to upgrade your site is explained in the /docs/ folder of every Zen Cart release zip, and is also discussed in the Tutorials/FAQs section of this website (see link at the top of this page).
