    Default Linux Server move issues.

    Hi guys,
I am running Zencart Ver 3.8
I have just transfered my site onto a new Linux server. I did this by FTP'ing files across servers rather than re-installing, and a backup and restore of the database.

I have updated my configure.php files (under include & admin). I then attempted to run "fix_cache_key.php" script

    My questions are:
    1. Can I transfer my site to a new server without re-installing? I know the documentation recommends a re-install but I was not confident of doing that.
    2. The 'fix_cache_key.php' script does not complete, I just get a blank screen. I traced it to 'autoload_func.php' which runs through a number of loops and then stops.

Any help will be much appreciated.

The re-install is recommended SPECIFICALLY because most people fail to accurately determine the correct paths to update in their configure.php files.
If you're more intelligent than most, then you can simply copy everything over and update the paths by hand.

    Added: Same with database settings.

Thanks for your reply DrByte. After transferring the web files I updated all the paths to the web folder and the new server details.

When I tried to fire-up the site up for the first time I got a Zencart message contained in nddbc.html, which implies it couldn't connect to the database.

Is there a cache entry which may still be pointing to the old server?
I am assuming that 'Fix_cache_key.php' is supposed to fix that?!

Database connection happens strictly based on the database settings contained in your configure.php files.
It has nothing to do with caching.

OK thanks, I need to trace through the startup scripts further as I have tripple checked the database values and web path settings in both the configure.php scripts. Its displaying the nddbc.html message re connection failure.

What happens if you choose to follow the instructions and run zc_install so it can build the correct values for you?
You can always restore your database afterward to be back at the right starting point, and actually be working.

Also, are your DB_PREFIX values the same between sites?
