You need to talk to GoneDaddy. Ask them about proxies or curl.
    A little help with colors.

    Default Communications Error!

    Exact Error message is:

Communications Error - Please notify webmaster. - Your credit card could not be authorized for this reason. Please correct the information and try again or contact us for further assistance.

I'm not sure what version these guys are using.

But they go through authorize.net and are hosted by Go Daddy.

I called Authorize.net twice, and they can see no communication at all from cardholders attempting to use the website. I tried to website with our test card number and this error popped up almost immediately. Authorize.net said they need a response string or code or number, and unless they can see that, this appears to fall solely between the merchant's website and shopping cart, or shopping cart and web hosting company.

From googling this issue, it appears to be purely a Zen Cart Issue.

The merchant's tech guy is going to put the cart in debugging mode when he can, but until then the merchant is left hanging. Tech guy mentioned there was a security hash issue, but when I spoke to Authorize.net they said that they have not changed anything at all with the Hash since January. Merchant is not computer savvy, he did not touch anything, and he has been running cards just fine for quite a while until this happened.

Is there anything Zen Cart can do for this merchant? Anything we can try?

I read the posts below and will contact the web hosting people.

In the meantime, tech guy's debugging results came back and are listed below. Can anyone tell me what they mean?

Does anyone know specifically what I need to ask the host? Any information at all would help. I would really hate to go in blind into a conversation, I have enough of that already.

Your problem stems from the fact that you're using GoDaddy hosting and they've historically had a very stupid server configuration which required a proxy to use CURL to do external communications such as submit payment transaction requests. Evidently GoDaddy has **yet again** changed their setup and now you need to turn OFF the use of the proxy.

Just go to Admin->Configuration->My Store->CURL Proxy Status ... and set it to false/off.

I'm moving this *out* of the Bug Reports area because it's not a Zen Cart bug. It's a problem caused by the GoDaddy system change.

    Thank you Dr. Byte.

The instructions you gave me, is that somewhere in Zen Cart, in or a browser, or in some type of Go Daddy login?

I don't have any training or knowledge of pos systems or shopping carts or web hosting.

Use your browser to login to your Zen Cart admin area with your Zen Cart admin username and password.
Then hover over the "Configuration" menu, and it will drop down with several choices.
Click on the first one: "My Store".
Then click on "CURL Proxy Status"
Then click on the "Edit" button in the right sidebar.
    Then click false.
    Then click save.
    Then click logoff.

red flag Authorize.net Communications Problems with GoDaddy Hosting

I'm having similar communication problems with authorize.net on a site hosted at GoDaddy. Setting the cURL Proxy Status to false seemed to fix things. Admin->Configuration->My Store>cURL Proxy Status
