    Default Using EasyPopulate to remove categories

    I tried to use an EP (easyPopulate) upload to remove categories but kept getting error like "...category not deleted yet..."

    My upload file is simple:

    c_categories_index_path = Apparel~Belt
    c_categories_status = 9
    EOREOR = EOREOR

    What is the problem? Can someone help?

    my guess is that EZ pop doesn't support the "9" for that field. To remove a category is simple to do though. If you eliminate/replace it from your ez pop upload manually takes seconds. Sort your file by that category and then either clear that field or enter the new category and it will overwrite your data.

    The other option is the old fashion way of manually going into inventory and pressing delete button for that category but that would remove all the data contained in that category.

    Are you saying that I just leave the cd_categories_name_en
    field blank with the corresponding c_categories_index_path?

    for example,
    c_categories_index_path = Apparel~Belt
    cd_categories_name_en = (BLANK?)
    c_categories_status = 1
    EOREOR = EOREOR

    Otherwise, how does zen cart know which category to delete? This will not leave a ghost category with no name?

    I am not understanding where you are in EZ Pop. Your EZ pop output file will have a mutitude of columns each one is a designated field.

    1) In your case a column called v_categories_name_1, 2, 3 etc... is relevant. You can clear out all data contained in any of these columns and/or replace it with some other data and upload it into your shop.

    This will remove/migrate the items categories you overwrote. Worst case is it might dup them leaving the old category to manually delete.

    but I don't think that would even be needed... just step 1. Pretty sure I have done this a million times and nearly certain it will just alter them and no dup.
