Sideboxes Top Banners

I´s it possible to avoid the top.banner and texts on selected sideboxes?

For the Categories sidebox, for example:

#categoriesHeading {display:none;}

add to the stylesheet.

The others are similar - #informationHeading, etc.

I do not understand this!!
The css display: none is clear, but...
I use the Banner Manager and Column Boxes my_template to direct to prefered location.
Where/How does the css come into the picture?
