Problem with required fields in attributes

Hi,
I'm using zencart 1.38 and I have attributes set up on my site:

My problem is as follows (bear with me please!).
I have a choice with 2 radio buttons and they must choose from either a standard verse or a custom verse. The radio buttons are required fields and they work correctly. However if you choose Standard verse I need your Name1, name 2 and date etc. I've set them required text fields and again that works ok.

But if you decide you want a Custom verse I don't want the Name1, name2, date etc fields to be required as you must now fill in the Custom box, but I can't figure how to do a if/else in this situation.

I'd appreciate if anyone has come accross this problem and foudn a solution.

It sounds like you're talking about 'dependent attributes', where the availability of some attributes depend on the selection of another.

You can't do that in the current version of Zencart.

It would, as I understand it, be a very complex programming job. That said, if someone were to create a working mod that did that, he/she could make a lot of money selling it to Zenners.

Sorry no problem is not resolved, the required tab was not set on the Name1, Name2 etc on this product for testing purposes. I have it set on it again.
Does anyone know if the latest verison of Zen cart have Dependent attributes? I'm happy to pay for a contribution if one exists.

I'm wondering if the Attribute Cross Validation would solve this, has anyone used it to solve a problem like this one?

From reading the description, that mod would get the end result of requiring or excluding certain attribute combinations, but it would not change the attribute display at all. All of the attributes would be shown all the time.

It is written for v1.3.8, so might have to be brought up to date if any of its files have changed in v1.3.9e.

Yes I think you are right, I think I need to create a unique Radio Button for each product and then tie the Attributes to that button that are required. Painfull but I thinkit's the only way,
