Is there an upload to create Categories?

I have many categories and subcategories of T-shirts to load.
Is there an upload program to create the categories with associated image and text? All I find is how to manually create one at a time.
Can I SQL them directly into the database without any problems?

I found that easypopulate will create the category record when uploading an item, but there isn't a specific upload for categories themselves that let's you add the image and description for the category.

I'm good with SQL. Is there a listing of all the database tables that I can review before hosing up the system?

You might try Apsona ShopAdmin for this, too. It includes a catagory import feature with all the standard category fields.
