    DO you think it would be better to just bin the overlapping html and use a 404 redirect to the home page

    H, just an update. Found the fault I was having with the 301 code. White space. I’ve added a .htaccess file to each of the directories I needed to move and they were all working properly until I got to a directory with a space in the title, then I get a 500 server error. I tried   but that didn’t help. Think this is to technical for me.

    Sorted it, the url with the white space had to be in inverted comas and now it's working great.
