Default e1034 Incorrect key file error after upgrading server to php 5.

Using version 1.3.8a and yesterday had our server upgraded from php ver 4?? to php 5.0
Tried logging into admin today and got the following error message:
1034 Incorrect key file for table 'customers'; try to repair it
    in:
[select count(*) as count from customers]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

Is there a fix for this or am I sol?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

That's a problem with your database table named "customers".
You should talk to your hosting company to get that fixed.
You might be able to repair it using the Repair Table option in phpMyAdmin, from your hosting company's control panel. For help finding/using that, contact your hosting company.
