Integrating a forum after install

When installing zencart there is an option to integrate or similar wording the database with a message board. I assume that this would mean that one customer account would allow for posting in the forum and for shopping on site.

Assuming this is true is there any way to add the forum to an already existing zencart site and have all registered customers be able to post in it without having to register a seperate account ?

The last item in Admin - Configuration - My Store will enable the bridge going forward, but I'm sure it won't convert all existing customers/forum users.
