Default UhOh Think I have messed up bad...

I am fairly new to zen-cart during my experimenting I installed zen-cart a couple times to my host. I finally got the hang of the site and built one I was happy with but had those other installations still on my host. I decided to back up the one I like and delete everything on the host. I had the site I like in its own folder under public_html. So I FTP'd that folder to my local machine and then deleted everything on my host and ran the uninstall feature through my ISP (bluehost) for all instance of zen-cart. Once everything was deleted I thought I could just FTP the backup to my public_html and it would work... This was not the case. I have also tried to install a fresh copy of zen-cart through my host and then overwrite the installation with my back up. When I do this none of my inventory shows nor do the few practice customers I set up. Im guessing I was supposed to back up databases somehow but that stuff is a bit above my head. Also when I try to turn on my custom template I get this error "403 Permission Denied
You do not have permission for this request /includes/templates/custom/images/ "

Am I really going to have to start from scratch? I put a lot of time into this site already... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you deleted the databases when you erased everything, your only hope is that your host has a backup and will restore your site from it. Otherwise, you need to start over.

Check the mySQL Databases section in your hosting control panel to see what's there.

All product and customer information, as well as all admin settings and EZ page copy are stored in the database.

Thank you for your reply. I am making progress... My host did have backups which I was able to download through my cpanel. I found the file in my "mySQL" directory that had my database within it. I did a "find" in the different documents to see which one had the item numbers and only one of them did. I imported this to the database that my current site is using (same DB as listed in my configure.php). When I browse through the database in PHPmyAdmin I can see the items/ categories all that good stuff, but when I goto my site there are no categories or items. After reading around I saw something about the fix_cache_key.php and tried that, but it just said no changes were made.

I have just noticed something that I think must be the cause, but am unsure how to fix. It appears in PHPmyAdmin that all my old directories have the prefix znc but all the new ones start with zen. I created a test item and it shows up in my zen_products but on the same table all my old items are in znc_products. Is there a way I can change what prefix my cart looks for and when I add new items have them start with that prefix. Or if there is another way I could change all the zen to znc?

OK I should of looked first before asking last question... I changed the prefix in my configure.php in both includes and admin/includes. This seems to have fix it! however I am getting a caution message in my admin "Your database appears to need patching to a higher level. See Tools-> Server Information to review patch levels."

Phew, so good your host had backups!

I am having trouble with the same problem - I updated the prefix in the configure.php files, but now my admin doesn't work. Uh oh. So I can't get rid of the angry red banner that tells me about my database needing patching.

And also the links from common tpl_header.php no longer work.

    Hmmmm.
