    Default Problem Installing Zen Cart

    Hi,
We have been trying to install Zen Cart on Linux as our server did not have cURL on the Window paltform, all the file have been upload and permissions changed as stated in the installation guide. When we try and enter the path the following message appears
    Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

We have contacted our host and they have sent the following message
Our servers do not support DirectoryIndex. We suggest you disable/comment out thaty code as htaccess only allows mod rewrite codes.

Could anyone help with this problem.
    Thanks
    Steve

Do I understand that you are getting this on a linux server???
There is a htaccess for the install script with
    Code:
    DirectoryIndex index.php
Do as suggested and remove this and see if that straightens it out

Sounds as though your provider is not configured to be ZenCart friendly at all.

As they ststed that this was the issue I would get back to them with what you removed and still have the issue

Are you operating on a web hosting service that requires that making a folder or file "writable" means setting it to "755" and NOT to "777" permissions?
