Default No Paypal option listed - at all

I'm flumoxed on this one. I have no Paypal iPN module

Brand new Zen Cart user. Only just installed version 1.3.9e first time using Simple Scripts. Succesfully changed the admin folder's name and added a new template (Elegance by 12leaves.com). Besides a lot of careful CSS changes to the template and 3 prducts I have made no changes or additions to Zen Cart.

When I go to Modules> Payment there is no Paypal option at all.

In fact as opposed to every other admin control there is no far right column displaying the details of the current setting.

    I have these options:
    Authorize.net (SIM) authorizenet Info
    Authorize.net (AIM) authorizenet_aim Info
    Authorize.net - eCheck authorizenet_echeck Info
    Cash on Delivery cod
The Zen Cart FREE CHARGE CARD freecharger 0 default Info

but I can't even select or edit any of these options because if I select "info" nothing happens and there is no section on the farthest right describing the particular settings for that option.

Something is obviously broken but what? This is a brand new install.
Besides starting over from scratch again what are my options?

I've switched the template back to the original default green and no difference so I doubt it is the template. What to do?

Download and reinstall using the stock code and see if that makes a difference.

So I have to re-enter all my info in the configuration files?

Thats kind of a bummer. I have my template and the CSS changes backed up but thats a lot of boxes in the configuration files to re-enter.

I wish the personal information ones were not mixed in with various store settings so often. That was so many menus.

How do I back up config setteings?

So against better judgement, I nuked everything. New database, new Simple Scripts install and despite losing a lot of work on data entered in the config settings- there is still no Paypal option under Modules>Payment despite what all the paperwork I can find on the Zen Cart says.

Is the information in the FAQ's and wiki just wrong? Does this module not install as dafault any more in v 1.3.9e?

If not where do I get it? Its not in the download section and all the documentation says it should already be there built into the program.

This is turning into to a real sour experience on zen cart right out of the box that something so basic - Paypal IPN - is broken and can't be fixed right out of the box.

Is Zen Cart really this broken?

Very depressed at what appears to be time wasted.

    new Simple Scripts install
That is NOT what I said. Go to the Zen Cart Home page. Click the Download link. Download to your hard drive, unzip the program and FTP ALL the files to your web space.

OK so I looked at the files via FTP and it appears that files from the template I added and my renamed admin folder were still there after rerunning simple scripts with "Create a new database" checked. I will manually delete all files via ftp and manually upload a fresh set via ftp.

If that does not fix it I'm going to be pretty ticked.

Really it should not be unreasonable to expect a program to work as it says out of the box. Have installed WordPress and Joomla several times and not had similar problems where a basic feature does not show up. Is that asking so much?

seand, Kim is right: you've got damaged files on your server somehow. Wiping them off the server and putting them back on correctly yourself will probably work better.
(Zen Cart has no control over how SimpleScripts does their installs. Their installer might be damaged, and thus your site damaged.)

I just posted an explanation of troubleshooting the symptoms you posted. You might find the resolution yourself by following it. It assumes you are familiar with FTP and accessing the files on your webspace: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=160819

As I said, Zen Cart works just fine out-of-the-box. Thousands of people download it each day (you can verify the stats yourself on sourceforge). You're the only one complaining about this symptom, and in conjunction with a SimpleScripts install.

Your frustrations are understood. But the problem is not with Zen Cart itself.

OK its just worrisome having to completely reinstall and reconfigure so soon. What if i had spent a week uploading products and that was the answer? That would suck.

The answer in the other thread is interesting, too bad I have already wrote a new database (according to Simple Scripts) and erased all my files manually via FTP so I can't compare the language files you mentioned. Will know soon enough I guess -when I'm done slowly re-ftping up the program files.

Thanks for the quick responses, BTW - even if I don't like the answers.

Pity it takes so much longer to upload than to install from a file already sitting on my hosts server somewhere.
