MySQL Database question

i have my current active shop running 3.8 but i have recently joined up with a new provider and i have set up the latest ZC on that.
i have customised it and added products ready for the re-launch but my question is how do i bring over my orders, order history and all customer details without undoing all of my hard work?

i know i can upload the old db and do the db upgrade but wont that wipe what i have already done as i dont need all of the settings and info

Depending upon what you have "customised" -
If you have installed modules etc...
Reserve the configuration table from your new setup
Do the import of your old DB and upgrade
Then replace the configuration table

Also if any addon creates new tables or alters current tables you will want to reserve them also for replacement/insertion
