Gift certificates redeeming in Admin but not for customer...

I have an issue with my customers not seeing the subtraction of gift certs in their cart or their order total... but I do see the cert redeemed in my admin.

Any idea why these certs wouldn't be redeeming for my customers? I do have the combination discount mod installed, do you think that could be related to this problem?

Redeeming the gift cert ONLY increases their gift-cert balance.
Customers have to specify how much of their gift certificate balance they want to apply to their purchases, and they do that during checkout.
