Sort Order for Featured products

I'm wanting to display Featured Products with their own sort order - in other words, the sort order set for the product within a category will be ignored and a specific "featured_sort_order" used instead.

I've done the database changes and removed the randomisation as shown in the other (very old!) threads on this topic (http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13062)

I'm about to embark on the file changes, but has anyone already modified their cart so that admin>catalog>Featured Products can display/edit sort orders in the same way as the category pages do, including setting the sort order when a new Featured product is added? If so, I'd love to hear from you.

I'd rather not re-invent this particular wheel if it's already been done.

There seem to be two mods for that - search the Free Software Add Ons for featured sort .
