Need help on choosing a category modification

Hi, im doing a gold store for a client (http://www.anotherroundgolf.com) and all the items are either left/right handed, mens/womens, and stuff like that. So I want to do the website like Newegg.com has it where you has a list of options to pick from after you pick the main category. For example: so pick solid state drive, and then you have the option to pick price range, brand, rpm, etc ,etc. Is there a modification that will do this?

Another this, is attributes, like flex, angle, and stuff like that, how can I make it look like hockeygiant.com where its a drop down on the product page and items disappear off the list once they are out of stock?

ZenCart is FREE and open source so it can be customized to the limits of your ability or pocketbook...

Do you have a site budget on the order of NewEgg??

Bassically, that type of filtering is not part of the default file set and would require a bunch of custom coding to be effective

Not impossible but not straight forward either...

ive seen plenty of smaller sites use the same thing as newegg, it cant be that hard...

So how do I do the thing that hockey giant does with their drop down attributes? I downloaded several mods for it but im not sure how to add atributes to my products?

should I use Brands as categories or just use the manufacturers option gives by zen cart?

Assuming it is golf equipment
I would arrange by your own structure - say "irons", "Woods" etc as categories
But you can enter them into brands and link them

You can then customize your cat box with a 3rd party module i.e. categories dressing so that your cats are at the top and by brand at the bottom

Customer can browse by your cat and see all irons or by only one brand
