Default Admin panel not allowing changes

Hello, this problem only started happening after I upgraded but when i click on some fields in the configuration panels in the admin section it does not give me the option to change anything (would normally pop up on the right.)

For example in the "My Store" tab I can change the store name and owner but every other option will not pop up with the option box on the right.

In the mean time I am using myphpadmin to set the attributes in the database but this takes a lot longer

Any Ideas what has caused this?

Did you use all the new files in from the new version?
Did you check the changelog against your overridden files and merge any that were changed?

I uploaded all the new files over the old ones but kept the config files the same. It then asked to update the database which i did do and then I started to have this problem.

Just tried a clean install which did allow me change all the options in the admin panel. However when i dropped the backed up database files into the mysql database the same problem came back.

Do you know what would be wrong to cause this?

Apparently find and replace for removing table prefixs was not a good idea I just done a clean install and install with the same prefix as my old host and its all good now

    AhHa!!
Find & replace - If you do not fully know what is required will replace other required references and not just the table name prefix as you have determined
