Default Import Customers & Orders During Upgrade

I plan to upgrade one of my heavily modded sites to 1.39e from 1.38a.

I have set up the test folder to install 1.39e and will begin today instaling 1.39 & upgrading the database and begin adding the mods i want to carry forward.

My question is as it will probably take about a week for me to install everything and test it from the point of importing and upgrading my current database in my test folder today to going live with it next week my current "live" 1.38a store will no doubt have new customers and orders which will not be in the database i have upgraded today.

Is there an easy way to import those new orders & customers into the newly upgraded database when it goes live next week so i don't lose them?

No easy way unless you are well versed in the Database structure

I suggest that you keep track of any mod that adds/alters tables to the DB(make a list)
When ready - make a DB backup - BUT omit the configuration table and any tables that exist from any mod - then place your live site down for maintenance

Import this backup into your new install DB and re-run zc_install and select upgrade DB only

This will capture all activity and by leaving out the configuration table will not mess up the mods that you have installed

    Thanks for that.

I have so many mods it is difficult to know what affects the db.

Can i not export the new customer and order records from the database and import them into the revised datatbase?
