dropdown boxes

I tried a search to find the answer, and i dont know if this question should be in a different category so feel free to move it if so.

I would like to create new dropdown boxes that point to the title of the listings if possible.
I have a record store online. Currently there is the default dropdown box for "manufacturers". So people can search by record label already. Each listing i create has the option on the page to link it to a manufacturer. Im wondering if its possible to add one that links to the band name as well. So they can look at a dropdown box with a list of band names, and it shows all the products i have pertaining to that band.
Its essentially like a search box, only with more browsing. I dont see the point in this personally, but ive been asked by numerous customers if i could implement this feature.
Im not sure how this would work, if i would have to go through all existing listings and categorize them under a band name (as right now the listing title is all one box, band - record name).

Through proper arragement of your product entries and a mosule or two you can get your described effect

Decide a master layout/category
Can be by type, or by artist or some other that makes sense

Follow tutorial to link to other categories, the others that you do not select as master

Then if you have a cat sidebox or have a horizontal tabbed listing
get the css flyout or dropdown menu module
