compatibility with thefatcow. host

I have been researching different carts and the zencart seems to be great. My only problem is that while my host thefatcow.com does offer the zen cart - it posts this warning

No support for ZenCart's digital downloading
The methods ZenCart uses to offer digital downloads are not compatible on FatCow's platform.

Has this problem been fixed - or is there a way to get around this issue - like download the zencart on my office webpages - then FTP them back to thefatcow.

The methods ZenCart uses to offer digital downloads are not compatible on FatCow's platform.

I've no idea what exactly they're talking about, but maybe they're just not advanced enough to offer secure downloads via symlink redirects, and must fallback to less secure methods of download delivery which leave the door open to digital thieves.
Zen Cart has 3 different modes available, two of which should be able to work around most hosting limitations, although they offer less security protection than the optimal method enabled by default.

I'm not sure there's a problem to "fix", at least not from Zen Cart's side. Sounds like a significant limitation on the hosting side.
If your hosting company can't offer digital downloads, then I suggest you seriously consider finding one that does. Especially if your business is selling digital download products.

Um ... That's a completely different issue than selling digital download products using the software.
But, yes, you can (and should) use your FTP program (preferably in SFTP (or "secure FTP") mode) to download and upload your site files and changes when designing and updating your site.

But, again, if your host can't provide common features and services reliably, then you probably don't want to put business-critical operations on that host's servers.

I don't know what is happening because I am just creating my website. I don't have zencart yet. But after researching my options I really want to use the zencart as my shopping cart - but because of the strong warning from my host about the pictures - I did not know whether it was a viable option. I am just selling 3 things and there are very good pictures on the website. If it's only the picture of the product that won't load - but everything else will load - I should be okay. Does anybody know?
