Help with shipping module

I need help regarding shipping module. I am using version 1.3.9d. Its new installation.

I need to ship products in the same country. The rates vary from state to state. for e.g.

1) The shipping charges are 0 for local city where store is situated.
2) shipping charges are 50.00 for state 'A'.
3) shipping charges are 60 for state 'B' and so on.

The rate may also vary according to weight of the package. So, there would be slab for weights as well as states.

Is there anyway to implement it in zen cart. I tried zones, but that is for different country. Weights can serve my purpose, but it does not change from state to state and neither can set shipping charges to 0 for local shipping.

I am new to PHP also, so can not code much. I would appreciate if some body can help me on this.

Have you looked in the Free Software Add Ons for the:
Zone Table

Which can allow you to build Zones based on Country/Zone and set the rates on either Weight, Price or Item Count for the Zone Definitions?

There isn't anything built in for shipping to those in your City, but you might also search on:
Zip Code
Zipcode

and see what shipping modules are available by Zip Codes ...

I have not tried add ons for zone table, but steadied them. I find that they also do not have city wise facility. In the same city there could be 10-15 zip codes, the rates are same for that city. If I go for zipodes the things become a bit lengthy.

But if you can suggest an addon I can try to implement it and see the results.

I already suggested what shipping modules should be able to handle your shipping needs where you can build Zone Definitions per State or Group of States ... and where you can use Zip Codes for the City ...

If these are not able to help you, I do not know off the top of my head ...

The last person who wanted things by City I had to write a rather complicated piece of code for ...

If you search my nick, somewhere I posted the code for the shipping by city ... but I do not recall off the top of my head where ...

OK, I got a turn around solution.

I installed two shipping methods from add on modules as suggested by Ajeh.

Seven-Zone Zipcode-based shipping module and zone table.
I faced issue with zipcode addon as the table name was changed, but I changed the table name to zen_zipcodezone in the database.

So, now I have a free shipping for the city in which the store is located specified in zip code shipping module and rates as per weight for all other state/zones as specified in zone table shipping module.

Some minor hiccups are there, but are acceptable to start with.
