Help with shipping module

I am trying to set up a new store and I am stuck on the shipping. I need to set up shipping with the following rules:

0 – 110 grams .... $1.25

111 – 250 grams .... $1.85

251 – 500 grams .... $2.80

501 – 3 Kg .... $ 10.00

Registration is $2.50 extra on all the above.

Pre Paid Registered envelope up to 500 grams in weight is $5.00

Pre Paid Express envelope up to 500 grams in weight is $7.50

The items are being shipped via standard letters via AusPost (Australia). The AusPost shipping module only seems to support parcel shipping and not letters, so the shipping is too expensive.

Does anyone know how to set up shipping like this? Table rate looks fine for the weight based prices, but I don't know how to add in extra options for registration, or the other two options.

Thanks! :)

Re: Help with shipping module

I am not expert but perhaps this may help -

You may add handling fee of 2.50 for registration.

for envelops perhaps you will need to add category of items and set item category wise pricing.

Thanks,

Thanks, but the registration fee is optional so I can't use the handling fee option.

Have you checked out the ozpost module?

It'll support all of your requirements (and more) 'out of the box'.

Re: Help with shipping module

Thanks Rod, the shipping requirements that I have are pretty simple though, and I don't really want to pay a monthly subscription for what I need - the OzPost module looks great and I would happily pay if I needed the real-time quotes etc, but all I need is a simple module that provides static shipping quotes :)

Does anyone else know of a shipping module that suits my needs?

Re: Help with shipping module

I would think that the table rate modules should suit you. Have you checked it out?

Re: Help with shipping module

Hye, mabe come up with a Flat Rate Shipping Figure to cover it all. Like set a rate no matter what the weight is and then you could also include a handleing charge for your trouble too. That is what I do on my site for cuckoo clocks. They very in weight per clock so I did my own formula and flat rate shipping works just fine for me. Hope this is helpful bud

Re: Help with shipping module

Thanks, it's definitely an option if I can't find anything else, but I'm sure that there must be something that suits what I need - it's so simple!

Re: Help with shipping module

Hi E-style,
if the price comes to too much because something is going as a letter, just put in your store somewhere that you will refund any over payment of Postage.
It has happened a few times in my present store and customers are quite happy with that.

The problem with this is that customers don't tend to read these kind of conditions.

You would only know this from the customers that have proceeded to purchase (regardless of whether they read about the refund or not). You probably won't have much of an idea as to how many potential customers chose not to purchase because the opposition offers the same products at the same prices, with cheaper *advertised* postage costs.
