Changing Store Name on Site

I am completely new to web page design, but I have been searching for the file that allows me to change the "My Store" to the name of my store itself. I have tried various searches and one said to go to configuration/my store and change the name. It does on the list ... but doesn't do anything on the main website. Am I doing something wrong? TY for any help you can give!!

It sounds like you have a custom template. A link to the site would help, but it may be the tagline. Search the Tutorials/FAQ for 'tagline'.

Yes its custom, I downloaded a template called Surfs Up and ty I will look into that

In the case of that template, the My Store is part of the logo image.
