    help question Attributes Queries

    Hello all,
I am working on a Site that will be using Attributes as follows:

    Size:
    X-Small
    Small
    Medium
    Large
    X-Large

We will then add this attribute to a number of products and want to know whether it is possible to disable certain attributes in the created list? So for example a Fireman Outfit may only come in Small, Medium and Large, where another outfit may come in every available size.

Also on another matter, is it possible to set the product code (sort order) and price based on the product rather than just the attribute - for example:

    Fireman Outfit:
    X-Small: 001: £10
    Small: 002: £10
    Medium: 003: £10
    Large: 004: £15

    Policeman Outfit:
    X-Small: 005: £10
    Small: 005: £12
    Medium: 005: £15
    Large: 005: £20
    X-Large: 005: £25

Also how well are Zencart Attributes indexed? So if I searched for Small Fireman Outfit would this be in our Sitemap (Generated by Sitemap XML) or will it just have the root product?

    Thank you in advance.

    Regards,
    Matt

    hi
Options and attributes must be extremely well planed especially if you price them with attributes.

if you have a working website add the URL so we can better understand the products and options

option values can be sorted just as anything, you can do it globally or for one product only. by default it will sort in alphanumerical order.

you can exclude a particular value based on products.

and YES it indexes BEAUTIFULLY in ALL indexs
(and you can always add a keyword product for additional SEO, just do not do a complete copy, that will lead you to the doghouse)

Basically we already use attribute sets - however there are 2000 lists of attributes as in the past if Small, Medium and Large is used this is added to just one product, and another product will use a duplicate list.

We are looking at simplifying this into just a few lists as it should be, however we need to work out if the product code, product price can be set based on the products link with the attribute list, rather than globally in the attribute list, and whether certain attributes can be disabled on a product basis?

    Regards,
    Matt

    of course it can.

I have 7 Template products (they are disabled)
and I make the changes Price, wight and sort order.
once I'm done i copy them to category or to product (in the delete mode)

but this is exactly why i said that you need planning, to categorize your product types and make it manageable.
