    Default Attributes and Downloadable products

I am trying to set up some downloadable products, I am using 1.3.9e, I successfully set up a test file and created the option name of 'Downloadable File, option type 'checkbox' and the product was created as a free product. I was able to complete the transaction and download the file.

So I created a file I could purchase, I have my paypal express checkout module installed and all the configuration information entered correctly. When I went to the attributes controller, and selected the new product, then I selected the option name already defined 'downloadable file, I left all the other radio buttons at their default value, and did not enter any price adjustments. When I insert the attribute IT does not apply it to the item. I tried changing some of the radio button options and repeating the steps with no luck, finally I did not select an Option Name and it worked so I had the new product with the attributes set. Only problem is when I purchased it from my store using PayPal Express Check out the transaction was completed and no download button to download the file. This I think is because of no Option Name in the attributes. So I guess my question is do I have to have a different Option name for each downloadable file I want to list, and if not what am I doing wrong so that the attribute will not attach to the file when I use the defined 'downloadable file' option name. I have the Zen-Cart book and it just doesn't explain this very well.

    Please help

    Thanks

I did that, when the download button was not there when I returned from PayPal.

    Any other ideas?

Default Setting up attributes for download files

I am attempting to setup virtual products for download. I have read and re-read chapters 13 and 14 of the book, and this is what I am doing...

the product is defined as a virtual product in the store,

I then go to the Option Names and enter the following?
'Pattern File', and choose Checkbox under Option Type and Insert it.

I have tried to add Option Values and always get the error screen telling me to press the back button and make sure I have not left any fields blank. So since this never works, I select Attributes Controller and select the area of the store my product is located in.

the screen loads and I choose the product I want to attach the attribute to. and click Display. So there are no attributes attached to this product yet so I scroll down and select the Option Name I defined 'Pattern File' the box to the right of this is for the Optional Value it collapses. So I have no Optional Values to select.

I then scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the option to Default Attribute to be Marked Selected: 'YES' and I enter the file name that I uploaded to my <zc_home>/download folder, I have done this numerous times and checked my case and exact spelling of the file which in this case is '3spcone.zip' I then click Insert. the attribute does not get attached, I have no idea what is wrong. Now if I skip selecting an Option Name and just select
Default Attribute to be Marked Selected: 'YES' and enter the file name and Insert, it works I get the attribute linked to the file and the file appears in the Download Manager. In the Payment Module under the Zen-Cart Free Charge Card the Order Status is set to 'UPDATE'. Downloads are set to 'TRUE' and since I am on a linux server the Download redirect is set to 'TRUE' I go thru the process of purchasing the product from the store and the transaction completes and I get no download button. Now remember this is all done with out selecting an Option Name in the Attribute Controller (since that is the only way I have been able to link an attribute to the file. I have tried this with Pay files using the same process except the file is not free and am using PayPal Express check out and when I return to the page after the purchase there is no download button available, and I have gone into the My Account on the store and viewed the purchase still no download button in either circumstance. I have tried this with the Order Status set to 2 and 4 in the PayPal Express Checkout Module. Even when I go into the admin module and look at the customer orders I cannot change the order status to make a download button show up in the account that the product was purchased under. I am hitting a brick wall here and am in dire need of help. PLEASE.

    Thank you
    Bryan

    Um ... *what* error screen?
It's not normal to be getting an error when adding an Option Value.

You'll need to fix that before anything else is going to work.

I opened up MypHpAdmin, and edited the entries for the optional values that had been defined, deleted them actually, and everything works as it should now. Wierd.
