admin email settings

Can anyone give me some ideas. On my site dnmwholesaleclocks.com when I try to send a email on the contact us I get this error. I went into my admin cp and I did try to change the setting on this for it was set to php and I tried 3 otheres but still get this error.

Email Error: Could not instantiate mail function. Please check Admin->Configuration->Email Options->Email Transport.

When you tried the SMTPAUTH setting, did you specify the SMTP settings at the bottom of that same screen?

Dr B, in the cp i have it set to what you suggest on the transport edit. I have done nothing to the settings under the email on the left side of screen. Are all those settings on the left at the botom the ones u are spaking of?

Dr B, I have them all changed to [email protected] but still get the error.

I'm talking about the SMTP settings in the bottom of the list ... which, yes, is on the left side.
It can't use SMTP or SMTPAUTH if you don't fill in those SMTP settings.

Dr. B/ I am going to send you a email for something to look at on this issue. I believe I have it right, but it still does not work and I do not want to post this info on the forum

Here is what I got in the informatin on the admin cp. But i still get the error. I cannot figure out this one. It used to work ok.

What version of Zen Cart?
When you say "it used to work ok", what exactly does that mean?
When did it stop?
What else was going on at that time? server changes? hosting changes? admin settings changes? upgrades? installing addons? sending out mass email campaigns? hack attempt? and the list goes on
