Default Additional thumbnails on product listing page

    HI there guys and gals,

I am developing a new t-shirt store for a client and we would like to display the additional thumbnails from the product page on the product listing page so that we can show the other colour options available.

I have been trying to add -
    PHP Code:
    require($template->get_template_dir('/tpl_modules_additional_images.php',DIR_WS_TEMPLATE$current_page_base,'templates'). '/tpl_modules_additional_images.php');
from the product_info_display.php in the modules/product_listing.php file but can't seem to place it without breaking the page or causing the main product image to not display at all.

Could someone with a little more php knowledge please enlighten me on where to place this so that the thumbnails can sit in a row below the main image.

    Thanks
    Matt

OK... Ive gone thru it and I cant get it to work. May also be that I dont realy understand it?

Ive created under images a file called Tie_Downs_Basic. This is the name of the product. under that I have 3 pics, Randoms 320.jpg,Randoms 326.jpg and Randoms 340.jpg. In the product screen under admin I tiped the product image as Randoms 320.jpg and it still shows just the one image?

In most cases, there is no need to create a subfolder under /images/ for each product. Just put the main product image (Randoms_320.jpg in your case) in /images/, along with the additional image files. (Note: it is bad practice to have spaces in filenames - use an _ or - instead. Some programs don't like spaces in filenames.) Name the additional images like Randoms_320_1.jpg, Randoms_320_2.jpg, or Randoms_320_325.jpg, Randoms_320_340.jpg.
Since your base image is named Randoms_320, the additional images need to start with the same thing to be recognized.
Also, if you capitalize a filename, you MUST capitalize it the same way everywhere you use it. It is easier to remember if you just use lowercase in all filenames.

Maby I needed to install something first lol?

Ok I went and deleted the folder I made. Then deleted the images related to the product usinf FTP.
Then I uploaded a new image flower_001.jpg with admin to the main directory. I then With FTP transered Flower_002.jpg and Flower_003.jpg to the main directory. But still when I open the product only 1 pic shows. The Flower_001.jpg?

The entire base filename needs to be in the additional image names. If you name the base image flower_001.jpg, the additional images need to start with flower_001, like flower_001_2.jpg or flower_001_side.jpg.

If you have only one flower product, you can name its image flower.jpg and additional images flower_001.jpg, flower_002.jpg.

Hi guys this has gone slightly off track from my original question!

I was asking how I would display thumbnails on the listing pages (not the product info page).

Can anyone point me in the right direction? take a look at this and you will see what I mean.

If you go to MENS PRODUCTS > T-SHIRT AND POLOS. Where they have the colour swatches I'd like additional images.

    Thanks

I suppose you would clone the additional images code/file (/includes/modules/additional_images.php) from the product info page to start with, and modify it to use variables available in the listing page, and possibly add or extend SQL queries to get any extra info needed. Since additional images are based on the main image name which is available to the listing page, there may be no SQL mods needed.
