"Featured" sidebox not displaying

Hi,

I have a problem which probably has a really simple answer - but after an hour here I can't find it. So...

I have the "featured products" sidebox configured to show in the right column of a three-column format. It appears below a "login" sidebox and above a "bestsellers" sidebox, both of which appear exactly as they should. But the "featured products" sidebox never appears.

I assume this is just a simple setting that I've messed up - but can anybody tell me which one???

Have you set any products to be featured?

Ummm.... I guess not, since I don't know how to do that either. Sorry for having to ask, but after reading 100s of posts (a search for "featured" and "products" delivers a LOT of results) and not finding the answer: How does one set a product to be "featured"? I already looked for an attribute but didn't find one.

Admin > Catalog > Featured Products.

Adjust the main column display in Configuration > Featured Listing.

Thanks for your help. The method you suggested does display featured products - but only on the main page. The sidebox remains invisible.

Whatever is happening is happening at a deeper level and I'm going to have to explore. Wish me luck!
