Limit quantities for a specific catagory

I have two main categories; one is "5 magazines for the price of 20$" where the customer can only order a total of five magazines. The other category is a full list of magazines where the customer can order an unlimited number of subscriptions. My question is; how can I set quantity restrictions to 5 orders for the "5 for 20$" category only?

I really tried to find this on the site but to no avail. My specific issues was not answered.

The limit on Quantity ordered by Category is not built into Zen Cart ...

To limit the Quantity of "some" Products that can be ordered based on Category, would require quite a bit of customization ...

You would want to display when the limit is exceeded on the:
shopping_cart

and also test the limit when validating the shopping cart when you go to the:
checkout_shipping

This can be done by testing the content of the shopping cart based on the master_categories_id of the Products in the shopping cart to see what the quantity is ...

While this is not difficult, it does need some customizations for this validation and the appropriate messages to be displayed when it happens ...

In addition, you want to offer a 5 for $20.00 based on the two separate groups of Products ...

So you are getting into a few areas where quite a bit of customization will need to be done ...
