Decimal quantity eg. 2.5 lbs

Search returned nothing. Seems to me I saw a config entry where I could set the quantity to something other than a whole number. IE 2.5 pounds. Now I can find it or maybe I dreamed it.

Please tell me where to go ( politely )

For letting customers purchase using fractional quantities, you must adjust two settings:
1. Admin->Configuration->My Store ... set number of decimal places, 0, or 1 or 2, etc
2. Within each product, set the minimum qty intervals, ie: 0.1 or 0.01 or whatever is required for your need

NOTE: If you want to enter weight as 2.5 ... you do not need to change decimals ...

If you want quantity with 2.5 then you need the decimal setting that DrByte has indicated ...

Conf/mystore the only decimal is the "Tax Decimal Places".
I set the Min Qt to 0.5 on the item and it shows on the display as Min 0.5 - but...

The quantity added to your cart has been adjusted.
The item you wanted is not available in fractional quantities.
The quantity of item: Breakfast, has been changed from: 2.5 to 3

Ah, the trick with Google is using the right words in the query - I had been asking for decimal - Google know the answer as "fractional quantities". article=324.

A/Conf/Stock->Product Quan. Decimals = 0,1,2,3
A/Cat/..item(prod) Qty Min AND Units set to 2.5

That works - not sure I like the way it shows up on the sales page and works. Thinking maybe I might "Attribute" it as 2.5, 10, 20 because setting to 2.5 allows an order of 5 pounds - which I guess could be 2x2.5 but sure as L someone will look at the order and say "Hu? We don't sell no 5# packages." I've got another item, Hot Italian, that can come as 3, 4 or 5 per flat and that works better. He can't sell 5/10/20 - <sigh>

If your Minimum is 0.5 ... Make sure that you set the Units to 0.5 or you won't be able to add 0.5 to the cart ...

There is lies the problem. It's not .5 it's 2.5 or 10 or 20 pounds. The problem of setting the units to 2.5 is that someone will order [3=] 7.5 pounds and the person filling the order will get confused. So I plan on doing attrubutes of 2.5, 10, 20. That way if you want 3 ea 2.5# packages you order 3. Or you order 12 2.5 = 30# or 3 10s gets you 30#. Depends on what the end game is. A grocery store need the 2.5# for the meat counter, the restaurant need (because it's easier) the 20# bulk box which they put in the cooler.
