Making discount coupon coupons NOT available for items already discounted.

hi guys, this is very common among stores.
having discount coupons or codes NOT applicable to already discounted or special items.

any solutions? can this be dong using the zone?

please advise. thanks

HI There,

When you create coupons you select a category or a sub category to be discountable.
You can pick and choose.

Used a while back so can't recall if it excludes specials but I don't think it does.

If not.

Create a category called specials.

Copy (Duplicate) each product on special into that new special category. (do NOT link them)

Then remove specials from in your normal category's and have them only in a specials area.

This way you can select all areas to use valid coupon except that category.

You MAY be able to copy (Except this time LINK) then to the products native category.
I 'think' then as you wouldn't have the new specials category selected for discount coupons etc.. that if you then had them visible in their native (linked) it may get the exact result you require but in a round about way.

i did the restrictions but it does not exclude it.
luckily all of the specials are in one category distributed in different sub categories.

when i "deny" this category with the coupons, it stills does not in the cart.

Sounds like you would have to put all the Specials into 1 category only and not duplicate these or link anywhere else.
