what errors would happen without master_categories_id and price_sorter value?

I've learnt that no vaule of master_categories_id and price_sorter by input products through Easy populate.

That's horrible.


what errors would happen without easy populate master_categories_id?

Missing master_categories_id and products_price_sorter cause pricing issues and navigation issues ...

If you do not use Linked Products, you can fix the master_categories_id with the Tools ... Store Manager ...

Reset ALL Products Master Categories ID
to be used for Linked Products and Pricing: Reset

Then, to fix the products_price_sorter you can run the:

Update ALL Products Price Sorter
to be able to sort by displayed prices: Update

If you do have Linked Products, you can use this method, and it should fix the bulk of the problems, but then you would want to go fix the Products that get assigned to the wrong master_categories_id ...

The master_categories_id is used to create prices such as through SaleMaker ... and used for Discount Coupon restrictions where a Category is set ...

The products_price_sorter is used in the Listings when things are sorted by price so that there doesn't have to be additional load/time wasted to figure out the Product's lowest price ... which is the display price of a Product ...

did you mean only the 'LINKed Products' would get assigned to the wrong master_categories_id and price_sorter?

The problem with Linked Products is that the lowest value of the categories_id would be used for the master_categories_id ...

This can be fixed by either editing the Product and changing the Master Category ... or, if a whole Category of Products is wrong, you can go to one of the Products and hit C for Copy and then go to the Multiple Categories Link Manager ... and at the bottom of the screen you will see:

Reset ALL Products in the selected Category to use the selected Category as the new Master Categories ID ...
Example: Resetting Category 22 would set ALL Products in Category 22 to use Category 22 as the Master Category ID
