Default Can one product affect another product's inventory

Would it be possible to set up several different products so that they, basically, act like one?
Let's say I one of each product, A,B,C, in stock. I would like to set it up so that if someone buys A,then B and C would no longer be in stock as well.
This is because I have a base product which can be modified. So really I only have one item in stock which can be sold three different ways.

Check out what I mean here.

    Thanks for the help.

I believe you need to add options as attributes

And possibly add the 3rd party module "stock by attributes"

So I installed the Stock by Attributes addon, but for the life of me, I just can't really seem to understand how to use it.

I made an attribute for the basic hat, and attached it to each variant. Then using Stock by Attribute, I set them all to use "1" for quantity.

So I thought that if I put 1 of any four choices in my cart, the rest would update as "out of stock", but this doesn't happen. Even the one I put in the cart shows up as "1 in stock" until I try to add it again to the cart. Then I get a warning, but just for that one choice.

Maybe I'm a bit thick, but this add-on seems extremely confusing to me.
    Thanks all.

Hi Kobra. Thanks for getting back so quick.
It actually does have an attribute, (at the bottom of the page it says "STYLE
PinTuckBrdTrlby") but I set it as read only, because I didn't really want people to be able to change it. I just added the attribute for use with "Stock by Attribute". (Like I said, I'm not really sure how to use it :) )

My understanding was that I could set a stock level across a single attribute. (So I was going to set up an attribute for each basic hat).
