Install Folder Location?

BACKGROUND:

OK. I think I am pretty up to speed on ZC, but the upgrade path has lost me. I can't seem to get my head around it.

I have recreated my production environment under a new sub-domain (test.mydomain.com), restored my prod DB to a new DB for testing, and redirected everything accordingly (both configure.php's).

QUESTION 1:

I am unclear on exactly where I am supposed to upload the new 1.3.9f install files.

I created another folder in the root of the test.mydomain.com(store_new), uploaded my merged install fileset, and went to test.mydomain.com/store_new/zc_install and kicked off the DB upgrade. I got a few warnings and worked them out, but the store still shows my DB as 1.3.8a after the upgrade finished?


The only other approach I can think of is that after I did my Winmerge, I upload and over write the existing files, and then when I hit zc_install, that was the process to upgrade the DB?


QUESTION 2:

I have renamed my admin folder per the Best Practices. That isn't addressed in the upgrade instructions. Do I need to change my admin folder back to "admin" then change it back to the different name after the upgrade?

What "store" are you referencing?
The one at test.mydomain.com/store_new/ is what should be upgraded

Yes, but it's not getting upgraded. The site looks the same and the DB reports 1.3.8a.

I guess what I am asking is does the install process copy files from the new version and overwrite the older version files? Or do I do that, then fire off a DB upgrade from the zc_install folder?

I am confused about what you are doing??
There is not an automatic file upgrade in zc_install
You stated earlier that you had a test install
Have you/are you following the upgrade tutorials?
