Default Server requirements to run Zen Cart

    Hello,

The server requirements are not clear; here,

    https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=6

    ... There's a line that says:

Zen Cart v1.2.x and v1.3.x: Minimum/suggested server requirements:

Apache 1.3.x and MySQL 3.2.x or higher

... but, below, there's another line that says:

MySQL 5 is not officially supported by Zen cart v1.3.x and lower

1st question: So, the first line says "mysql 3.2 or higher" but next, it says that v5 is not supported ?

Also, if you try to download the mysql 3.2 from the official page (http://downloads.mysql.com/archives.php), you find that it is NOT available, ... then....

    2nd question: should I call HOUSTON ?

MORE: On another line, it says:

Zen Cart v1.3.9 (to be released soon) and newer are compatible with PHP 5.3.0 and newer.

3rd question: I suppose that this is only an webpage update problem, as that versions is already available, so PHP 5.x is already supported.

4th question: Also, I suppose that the final Apache's version (httpd-2.2.16-win32-x86) is supported. Is it ?

Note that as the requirements are so specific (as in Drupal), I avoid to install things like wamp, as the full pack does not contain the versions required... or so I think.

5th question: Why oh God, computing is so complex ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Roger

Sorry. Article was out of date.

v1.3.9 is compatible with the contemporary versions of said components.

That said, it seems as though you're new to webhosting configurations. As such, I might recommend that you use a bundled package to install your own localhost testing setup, rather than trying to build a bespoke configuration from scratch. Something like XAMPP would be a good starting point.

OK then, thanks for that quick answer.

The "complex" felling was a joke, I know for sure it IS and will always be that way 8-D.

I will use the WAMP tool, then.

I have a suggestion for the sake of clarity; I don't know if I should address it in this forum, but here I shoot it:

I think that it would be a good idea to insert a more direct link for the requirements in the main page for the product, also giving direct links for the required product and specific versions... and keep it updated. It will help a lot of people you know.

    Thanks again,

    Roger
