Darn, I'm totally wrong then. Where exactly do IPNs get linked to the actual transactions, that's the major problem anyway. Maybe session variables get cleared before transaction is sent to PayPal or something like that?
I'm still not clear on what the problem is. The information in the Admin->Customers->IPN History screen is reference-only. It is not used anywhere else. If the information is wrong for some reason, it's not influencing any functionality anywhere else. While it might be irritating that the information there seems to be incorrect, I'm confused why you're focused on spending time on this topic when you could be focused on building your business and generating sales.

I know that information is not crucial, but the problem is that refunds from within Zen Cart do not work any more, which is quite useful. This feature relies on working IPN message if I'm not wrong.
I always get that error when I want to do a full refund:
There was a problem refunding the transaction amount specified. (7 Field format error: 10004-The partial refund amount must be a positive amount)
So, the real problem is something about refunds, and specific error message, but you started this whole discussion by talking about IPN problems, and never mentioned the actual error message?
Sure, support here is offered at no charge to your wallet ... but ... starting with the actual issue might cause less frustration and get usable results faster.

Well, it's not just that refund-problem that irritates me.
For some reason the shopping cart contents do not show for the transactions on the paypal.com-website. It only shows the name of the customer, that's it. 2 days ago that worked as well.
I thought IPN is the culprit here, that's why I thought it might be a good idea to solve the root of the problem instead of coming up with 2 bugs caused by another bug.
Anyway, you were right, so
