Drop down menu quantity

My store will be selling mostly clothing, so for each item there is a drop down menu for sizes. I didnt realize at first but now have notcied. The inventory amount, or quantity shown is a general number of all sizes. This is not good, as if I am out of a item, the stuff I sell can not reordered easily, so a order could be left empty for months.

Is there a way that I can add a quantity to each size in the drop down menu? I have been going over everything but I must be just missing it if there is.

it states "4 units in stock" but that is general, meaning I have 1 of every size. you can order a small or xlarge and it just removes 1 from the general inventory.

any help is greatly appreciated.

p.s. obviously the site is new and under construction forgive the mess.
