    Default Adding for packaging

I'm setting up a ZC for a butcher - sells fresh sausage etc. You can go online and buy 1 pound of Sweet Italian in bulk for $3.89 provided you drive to the plant. However if you live say 200 miles away it will go FedEx for $XX but it also has to be boxed with (I'm not sure how they are doing it) ?dry-ice? ?blue-ice? Something to keep it cool.

The question is: How do I set ?what? up so when shipped (going to pick a number) .45 per pound is added for the boxing and cooling?

    Thanks

    Chuck

How do you know whether to add $0.45 per pound for the 200 miles vs a 400 mile trip ... then what? Do you double the amount per pound to $0.90?

What if you used the Tare Rates with a percentage or extra weight to add to the order to account for the Dry Ice ... is everything sent in Dry Ice?

The more I think about it, it has to be blue-ice. I'm waiting for a response from him.

I have a friend that gets his insulin in a small styro 6-pack box [7-11, $1] with blue-ice in a cardboard box sized for the styro. He was on a trip and asked if I'd pick it up after UPS/FedEx dropped it off and put it in my refer. It showed up a day late and could have gone another day ... or two.

The FedEx module calculates the charge. Hmmm, Maybe what I/we do is box up 10 pounds with gel ice and divide by 10 and that becomes the shipping weight. But that doesn't take in to account the $1.50 for the styro & gel. I can't be the first one down this path. Or do you add it all in and raise the price/# from $3.89 to $4.98? Or am I being anal

Could you use the Surcharge(s) on the FedEx shipping module(s)?
