crazy shipping charge problems

For a while now I've had some weird problems going on with my shipping prices.

At first when someone would order more than one product from my site,it would charge shipping by weight for only one of those items,not all of them together.

I figured out a way to disable the shipping weight,seeing as how we like to calculate the shipping ourselves just to be safe. But,now when ever someone orders something,the shipping is now slightly over charged. I read some where that paypal could cause this,but I have nothing like that set up on my paypal account.

Any idea what the cause could be? I've been trying to fix this for two weeks now and I'm stumped.

I don't mean to be rude. But,12 views from people and no help?
It's just that I need some help quick as to what could possibly be the problem. I can't have my customers thinking that they're getting overcharged for shipping evertime they order from us.

You have given no information on how you are calculating your shipping as you have indicated this is not by weight ...

There is not much that can be done to help you without more information about what you are doing to calculate your shipping in order for us to guess what might be wrong ...

We are currently having problems with our shipping also. When someone orders one lapel pin the shipping is way to much. I have set up the shipping as recommended and still this problem happens. Please let me know what info you need to help me fix this problem.

You, too, need to give a lot more information about your shipping needs ...

There are a bazillion possible "recommended" methods to setup shipping ...

What Shipping Modules do you have installed?

What are you trying to do with your shipping?

Pretend we know absolutely nothing about your shop and what your shipping needs are and give us specifics so that we can better advise you on how to do your shipping ...

We are using USPS here is how we have it set up. I did notice that when I check out First Class is not available only Express and Priority. So when a customer wants to by a lapel pin for 2.50 and the weigh is under 1lb it automatically shows Express or priority, First Class does not show up at all.

A Product Weight of 2.50 is greater than 1lb ... where are you thinking that 2.5 is less than 1?

What version of Zen Cart are you running?

If you go to the Tools ... Developers Tool Kit ... and in the bottom input box search on:
usps.php

and select Catalog ... then click Search ... what is the version id for that file?

I don't see in put box? I am sorry I am sure I am missing something or not understanding. Also the lapel pin is $2.50 and the weight is .001lbs. I left out the dollar sign.
