Duh... Thanks for spelling it out for me Delia
Thanks for a fabulous mod!
The only issue I've run into is that I'm getting a lot of W3C validation errors with the fb code (their fault - not yours). After doing some research on the fb developers forum, I've found a way around these errors, but it's going to take a whole lot of rewriting to fix 'em. Would it be worth my time to rearrange the mod code to avoid the W3C validation errors? Or does it not matter?
The code wouldn't change - the changes mentioned on the fb forum suggest moving the code around, creating a javascript file, blah, blah, blah. Pretty simple stuff, but if the errors aren't an issue with google or any of the other search engines, what's the point?
I mainly wanted to get your take on if the errors were going to cause problems with search engines or not (the answers elsewhere were mixed).
When I first did the mod, I did find there was a possible problem with search engines. I don't know if that has been corrected or not. There's a link to that info in the readme file. If you are just talking about non validating code - I doubt seriously that this can make any real difference.
Dear Delia, First of all thanks for the great contribution. I could find many posts with the request to fix this error META_TAG_FBTITLE, but I could not find a solution.
In my experience, the module works perfectly on product pages. The product title, image and URL are picked up from META TAGS. But, the problem is only when you click Facebook Like button on home page or other non product display pages. The <?php echo META_TAG_FBTITLE; ?> statement on html_header.php returns simply META_TAG_FBTITLE on non-product pages.
To fix this error, we need to edit the custom META TAGs on meta_tags.php to the following effect.
If META_TAG_FBTITLE is not defined it should return default META_TAG_TITLE. Same should be followed for URL and Image tags also. Image may be directed to company logo.gif and URL may be the current page URL.
Since, I am not a programmer, it is beyond me to write a code. But, if the community contributes to this effect, this error can be fixed once and for all.
When I googled with the search string META_TAG_FBTITLE I could see many Facebook sharing posts (obviously used by visitors of many websites) with irrelevant page title of "META_TAG_FBTITLE".

Yes, because this mod is only supposed to be installed on the product page.
Any other installation of the like button will result in that.
I was getting that too with the mod until I set the FB part of the coding to my own page NOT another one---I have my own and the forums has one too...so used my personal fb account number.
then when you click the link it will give the right title.
now if you go to fb and enter the link yourself then you will still get that coding but it can be edited, like most of fb can...by clicking on it and entering what you wish...along with the description.
META_TAG_FBTITLE issue is fixed. Please take a look at this contribution: http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...oducts_id=2026

Thanks but until I see that Google+ is going to stick around then I will just stay with the primary mod in this listing.
Although I do like the twitter follow but I just go there with new items or sales info anyway.
