Default One linux domain - Different stores from different urls?

    Hi folks

I'm about to upgrade one of my Fasthost URL's to a linux package

Is it possible to install several different Zen cart stores onto the one server? ie

    blah.com/store1
    blah.com/store2
    blah.com/store3

Also is it possible to setup one store and copy all the settings to the other stores without the need to redo all the info each time? obviously the products will be slightly different but that's it

    Cheers

    John

    1. Sure. I have multiple sites on my test domain. You'll need a separate database for each.

    2. Trickier, but if you set up one store, then, before adding any products, customers, etc., copy the files (except the configure.php files) and the database (where the admin settings are stored) to the other sites, you should end up with identical stores.

I just did this exact thing with 3 stores and found it easier to install the identical custom template (with a different name) to each, mods I wanted installed to each one at a time, and then changed admin settings one site at a time:

Admin - Configuration - Layout Settings in site #1, then the same settings in site #2, etc.

A little more time-consuming, but surer, I think.

    Cheers Steve

I'm hoping to get a call from Fasthosts tomorrow to double check so i'll ask them

Also how easy is it to install on fasthosts? Using GoDaddy it has a simple setup button meaning it's a sit back and wait lol

Don't know about Fasthosts, but I (and most others here) don't recommend usiong Fantastico or other auto-installers. Better to install Zencart manually - it doesn't take much longer, and you'll learn stuff along the way.

Cheers, I'll try my best but if I get stuck then i'll pop on for advice

Also what space does a store take up? I know it's a hard question but say it's an average store?

Just trying to figure out how many stores I'll get away with on the one domain space lol

Ok I've followed the install guide to the letter but it's not working properly I'm using the ftp program that it recommends

I'm getting the following message on my install page

    www.tgtscustoms.co.uk/gamertees

Hello. Thank you for loading Zen Cart™.

You are seeing this page for one or more reasons:

This is your first time using Zen Cart™ and you haven't yet completed the normal Installation procedure.
If this is the case for you, Click here to begin installation.

Your /includes/configure.php and/or /admin/includes/configure.php file contains invalid path information and/or invalid database-connection information.
If you recently edited your configure.php files for any reason, or maybe moved your site to a different folder or different server, then you'll need to review and update all your settings to the correct values for your server.
See the Online FAQ and Tutorials area on the Zen Cart™ website for assistance.
Additional Details: includes/configure.php file contents invalid. ie: DIR_FS_CATALOG not valid or not set

Anyone shed any light? Please please please
