    Default Name Builder...errr... PC Builder?

I have a client who sells children's letters that parents can place in their kids room. These letter are bought individually and come in blue and pink. The issue is that to make the name Sammy the customer would have to go into each individual product 5 times to be choose the letter and color. If the letters did not have an attribute the customer would be able to order all the pages from the product list page but this is not the case here so I was thinking the PC configurator could be an option.

I figure we load and install that puppy up and add all the options and what not but not having dealt with this plugin before I am assuming their are issues with this setup. One being the length of names varying from person to person. If we configure the plugin to say 15 options could the customer skip the last 10 options if they are buying the letters for Sammy?

Are there other options that you guys can think of other than customizing the product list page to include attributes in the list? Something like this: http://clip2net.com/clip/m7120/1285873397-clip-26kb.jpg

How about making the Colour the product and the letter the attribute?
    eg
    Blue letter:
    select "A" "B" etc etc

That runs into problems if there are two of one letter in the name.

It might work best to have categories of Blue and Pink, with products for each letter. This would allow quantity boxes for each letter, and with the multiple add to cart enabled, they could select as many of each letter as they want and add them all with one click.

Another option would be to make a text attribute for the letter product, priced per letter; they would type in the desired name (you can set it to not charge for spaces) and select the color, and the cost would be figured on the number of letters.
It would be possible to mess this up by typing in non-letters, but they would get charged more for that if they tried it.

If your clients are using Blue for Boys and Pink for Girls then there would only be one colour bought depending who it was being bought for.

In Victorian times of course it was Pink for Boys (because it was reckoned to be a strong colour) and Blue for Girls.
