New customer issue with postal code length

I thought everything was great, but have just tested the new customer sign up page. When I go to create a new customer, this is the error message:

Your Post/ZIP Code must contain a minimum of 4 characters.

I can put in as little as for or over 20 and still the same error comes up.

BTW, I have just updated from 1.3.8a to 1.3.9g. This is still in test mode, so it's not live, but I hope to have it done soon.

Not sure of the steps you used for upgrade?

I just upgraded a demo site to 1.3.9g and do not see the issues
You can try abd create an account and see HERE

Tripple check that you checked and merged any of your override template files that changed

I followed the instructions provided. I did make sure the files were the same, not including my personalization with color.

Now, what I did today was do a search in the source for button_download. It shows up in the currently running store on the order information page, but it does not show up on the upgraded store. What would cause the store not to generate the code for the download button not to show?

Or hard code in other files?

Yes, only in the CSS file. I do not mess with the other files other than what is necessary.

About all I can suggest is that you check it with the classic template
If it works there, then there is something in your template files breaking it
But this will confirm this
If not, then there is something a-miss in your upgrade

As posted earlier. it works with a standard base install of 1.3.9g

How many overridden files do you have?

Not a lot. Just the basics that needs to be done, really. So, the config file in the admin/includes folder, a couple of index files to customize to our store (title and stuff like that), a custom template folder, and I uploaded a header.jpg to the email folder to customize the emails that are sent out. So really basic stuff. I don't mess with the php as I don't know the code. The only time I'll do that is if it's a security patch and the instructions are here.
