Default Fresh install but old data

    Hi,

I am on mission today and i have decided to do a fresh install of Zencart after getting so many issues with current setup.

Biggest problem is customers can not create an account easily. Whenever they try, nothing happens and fields become blank.

In new new installation, all I want is Customers, their orders, address book.

I then plan to install only a few modules that i need coz at the moment i have so much crap.

What is the best way to complete this mission? I have made a list of database files.

Also my db is in this format gjh6_orders. In new install, would i get the same prefix ( gjh6 ) or i would have to change that manually?

A small guide will help me to complete this job with peace of mind.

    Thanks

Suggest that you follow the upgrade steps and not try to pick & choose

Because you are asking, it is apparent that you are not fully up to speed on the dependencies in the DB
If there are orders and products have attributes there are many tables inter-indexed to maintain the customer history
Leave something out and it can break things with mysql errors
there is much junk in db
Please elaborate on what you class as "junk"

My Junk means modules that i have installed over the past 3 years and never used them.

There is so much mess and biggest issue is customers can not create account and due to that we have seen drop in sale.

And you have a list of exactly what these are??
Need to ferret out which ones add tables, alter tables, have no DB interaction.

Those that only add tables - can drop those tables
Those that alter a table, must determine how to back out the alteration
Some well written mods have uninstall sql
Others are only files and will not be part of your new install

There is so much mess and biggest issue is customers can not create account and due to that we have seen drop in sale.
Correcting why an account cannot be created is a seperate issue and should be fixed first
