    Default flatrate per product

I guess i'm not the first who need this, but after searching through the forums, I have been unable to find an answer to my question.

It's here a way to assign a flat rate on a per product basis. I use the product weight to set the shipping cost for each product. Unfortunately (for me ) the cost is based on the items ordered.

    What i need is :

    product A >> 5 € shipping cost x 3 items ordered = 5 € total cost
    product A >> 6 € shipping cost x 3 items ordered = 6 € total cost

    instead of

    product A >> 5 € shipping cost x 3 items ordered = 15 € total cost

    Anybody has any idea ?
    Thanks for reading

You are saying a flat rate per product where shipping is based on a given value, regardless of quantity ...

But, your example is showing other wise:
    product A >> 5 € shipping cost x 3 items ordered = 5 € total cost
    product A >> 6 € shipping cost x 3 items ordered = 6 € total cost
What changes Product A from 5 to 6?

You may be able to adapt the Per Unit perweightunit shipping module, depending on how you clarify on how this is suppose to work ...

    oh, i'm so sorry.

    here's the corrected text.

    product A >> 5 € shipping cost x 3 items ordered = 5 € total cost
    product B >> 6 € shipping cost x 3 items ordered = 6 € total cost

    this make more sense
    all my apologies

First, would this be the only shipping method available?

Shipping Weight is calculated in the shopping_cart class then used by the shipping modules ...

However, this means that the weight is multiplied out per product for the quantity of the product being ordered ...

If you NEVER intend to use the products_weight for any other reason than to denote the specific charge for shipping and will ONLY use this as a Flat Rate on a Per Product basis where quantity does not matter ...

Then this can be adjusted in the shopping_cart class and then the Per Unit perweightunit shipping module could be used to compute this ...

Otherwise, some other method would need to be designed ...

    Default Re: flatrate per product

I have read all of the posts on how to assign shipping costs for each item or unit. But when I try to set it up so that my shipping weight is my shipping cost, it never comes out to the amount in my shipping weight. I'm sure that it is one or two things that I'm just not putting in correctly. I am code illiterate and just trying to get my site with the shopping cart up. So far I've figured out how to get products on, etc. Can someone do an actual step by step process for how to get my product weight to show up as the shipping cost? I need to know exactly what goes in each box. I tried to put, as an example, 2.99:2.99 "Shipping Cost per Unit" in the shipping module to show up as $2.99 shipping, but it is showing up as 0. UGH! I have tried for days to figure it out on my own. Can someone PLEASE HELP ME? Thank you!

To use the Per Unit perweightunit shipping module ...

In the Product, add as the Product Weight: 2.99

Now, the Shipping Cost for that product is 2.99 for each one purchased ...

NOTE: be sure that you have set in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging the Maximum Weight to: 5000 and the Tare Rates to: 0:0 ...
