The only links I want in the header are the line of blue links in the upper right. How do I get rid of the login box, tagline, etc. that have now appeared? I didn't change anything else but the header.php language file in the template override. I'm feeling pretty sheepish right now.

I would recommend replacing the header.php file with the one from a fresh download of the template package.
