UPS Shipping off the scale

Something else that is strange is happening. If I add 1 of an item it estimates shipping as $35. If I have 2 of the same item in cart it estimates $66 shipping. If I have 3 of the same item in cart it estimate a drastic $183.69. I don't see how that could possibly add up.

The weight of this item is 40lbs. It does this with multiple quantities of other items also. Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

The first 2 quantities are correct in that they match what ups.com says it would cost to ship. The weight is the correct weight of the item I'm shipping. Anyone know how to fix this???

I tried playing with the package tare for larger packages, didn't fix it. Then I tried setting the maximum quantity higher (to 150), this would let me get more of a quantity of a product without the price jumping insanely. But at about a quantity of 6 it jumped insanely. I tried setting the maximum package weight to 200 and then the shipping calculator just couldn't give any numbers. Anyone have an idea?
