Can I exclude some products from the site search?

Hi,
We have some private offers for select customers who subscribe as VIP Members.
I found a way to "hide" these from the menu, but they still show up if someone uses the search feature on the website.

Is there a way to exclude a category from showing up on a website search?

If not, is there a way to exclude specific pages from showing up on a website search?

Yes, well sorry for the duplicate posting. Wasn't aware I couldn't put it in two appropriate categories....
